CHUNG PU BAKING MACHINERY CO., LTD., the sole distributor of a tabletop pancake cooker in Taiwan, is a manufacturer of ovens (deck ovens) and a distributor of various food machinery for more than 70 years since its establishment. We were able to hear many stories about the history and the factory.

Founded in 1951 by the grandfather of Mr. Huang President, CHUNG PU BAKING MACHINERY CO., LTD. is a long-established machine manufacturer that will celebrate its 72nd anniversary in 2023. Initially, they were a manufacturer specializing in fans and transformers, the company also began making ovens because of the large transformers used inside.
“When the Japanese who were in Taiwan after the war returned home, they left behind various items because they could not take them with them. He felt that confectionery was a luxury item and that an oven producing such a luxury item would surely be profitable. Even to build an oven, it was difficult to gather materials and parts at that time, and they had to use shipbuilding supplies to make it. At that time, Breaded meals were not yet mainstream. and it was mainly used to bake moon cakes, pie buns, and other traditional Chinese pastries like those served at weddings.”

They have manufactured a variety of heat-related items such as ammeters, industrial irons, and dryers, but according to the words of his father, who is predecessor, they have decided to limit their production to ovens only and purchase and sell other machines from other companies.
The company is active throughout Taiwan as a distributor of various machines imported from overseas, including mixers, depositors, ice cream machines, refrigerators, and ovens.
“〈Chung Pu〉 of CHUNG PU BAKING MACHINERY CO., LTD. means the middle of Taiwan. The company is also located in Taichung and is easily accessible to the whole of Taiwan.”
In the factory, we were able to see everything from material cutting to welding and assembly.

The ovens of CHUNG PU BAKING MACHINERY CO., LTD. are also used in confectionery and bakery schools throughout Taiwan.
“What is important to us is that our customers can use our products for a long time and that we provide after-sales service. Digitalization and AI are themes that must be promoted, but first of all, considering the user, I think it is important that the products can be baked at an even temperature, the machines are durable and can be used for a long time.”

The company currently has approximately 30 employees. There is also a maintenance office in Taipei. The company also exports ovens made by CHUNG PU BAKING MACHINERY CO., LTD. to China, Malaysia, Japan, and other countries.

I was humbled to hear the words of one of the interviewees, “Japanese machinery is wonderful,” as we are also a machinery manufacturer. Some people buy their compact type ovens for home use. Thank you for your continued support!
